Could you be the voice of Cycling?
Imagine a country where cycling is a safe and natural way most people choose to move around. Imagine a country where air pollution is no longer poisoning our children, obesity has been eliminated and our towns and cities are free of traffic congestion.
This is the vision we cherish at Cycling UK and we’re on mission to get a million more people cycling. But not just the usual suspects. Our campaigning, engagement, volunteering, and behaviour change programmes are intended to make sure the cycling population more closely reflects the diverse make-up of the UK.
This is an exciting time for a communications specialist to join the team. At a time when cycling is on a boom. Through the lockdown the public have re-found their love for the bike with shops selling out and cycling levels hitting 400%. Exciting as all the UK nations governments have woken up to the wider benefit of cycling to our physical and mental health, to our environment and green transport.
You’ll be a seasoned communications and media expert, ready to profile the charity and take the news to the national media to maximise on cycling’s popularity, build upon the public’s increasing engagement on digital channels and at a time of environmental awareness capitalise on the zeitgeist of this autumn’s COP26 to show just what cycling can achieve.
We need your experience and zeal to lead the team to sell cycling, to shout about our successes, to help us fundraise, to counter the negative perceptions of cycling in the media, society and in decision makers, to make cycling inviting for all.
We are an inclusive organisation and would particularly welcome applications from candidates from a broad range of backgrounds. We strongly believe that diversity strengthens our work. If you are already passionate about cycling, that’s great, many of us are too! But if you are simply really excellent at what you do, no matter what your background, that is what matters most to us.
Come and join us for the ride.
