Volunteer of the Year for the East Region - Jackie Cooper

Jackie Cooper has made a great contribution Stevenage and North Herts CTC. Her great organisational ability is reflected in her choice of roles and she has been a key part of encouraging more people to get out on their bikes and make new friends.

Jackie is Stevenage and North Herts CTC’s social secretary organising events such as a hugely popular Christmas lunch and presentations event; Bicycle Barbecue; and the Cyclists’ Curry Crawl. Jackie helps with many events and organises the “stuffing parties” essential just before and after every major event.

She also inaugurated her early riser rides on Sunday mornings. These are a short early ride with no stops to suit a group of people who want to ride but do not wish to spend a whole day doing so. These have proved popular and have continued since they started right through the winter period.

Jackie Cooper won the Centenary Cup for the greatest contribution to cycling in Hertfordshire in 2013.  She was also Stevenage and North Herts CTC’s ride maker of the year having organised and led 45 rides and swept 21 others.

On top of all that she was second woman in the year long “Blazing Saddles” competition.
