Chair's Toolkit
Chair's Toolkit
What are the main tasks of a cycling group Chair?
The duties of a Chair may include:
- presiding at each meeting of the group's Committee and at its Annual General Meeting
- having the casting vote in the event of a tie if a motion is put to the meeting
- facilitating the efficient and correct conduct of the meeting in accordance with the group's constitution (or the Policy Handbook for Cycling UK Member Groups)
- deputising for the group's Secretary
Note: Some groups use the term President for the role of Chair. This is acceptable but a distinction should be made between a President acting as Chair and a President appointed for purely honorary/symbolic purposes who has no formal duties.
