As part of the next phase of the Active Travel (Wales) Act, local authorities across Wales are beginning to map the routes where future cycling and walking routes should be created. Cycling UK reports where it’s happening and how to get involved.

 
 
Cycling UK today (Thursday, 22 June) welcomed the opportunities presented by the Welsh Government’s consultation "Taking forward Wales’ sustainable management of natural resources" calling them “a landmark step towards increasing the opportunities for cycling, health and rural tourism.”

The Government has been told that traffic law enforcement needs specialist traffic officers and visible roads policing, but the numbers keep falling alongside the decline in detection of traffic offences. Whilst political will and more resources are needed, does the West Midland's close pass scheme show how, whilst we're waiting, clever enforcement can mean getting more for less?
