Volunteer Role Description

Why do you need me?

To support the administration and marketing of the CTC Tourist Competition.

What activities will I be involved in?

  • Contacting Cycling UK affiliated organisations and groups regarding their Tourist Competition events and listing them on the UK events listing
  • Upload images and content onto Tourist Competition web pages
  • Support the team in pulling together the correct results from the individual events and uploading them in to the results sytem
  • Support the communications team in marketing the competition to participants

What skills and abilities will I need to have?

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise accordingly
  • Quick learner
  • Aptitude for communication

What are the benefits for me?

This volunteer role offers a range of opportunities for someone looking to gain experience working in national events, event support, web content and participant management systems, as well as an insight into the launching of the new 2016 Tourist Competition.

You will:

  • Gain hands on experience of working in a charity events and digital team
  • Gain the opportunity to engage in other areas of our work
  • Receive a written reference when you finish volunteering with us

How much time should I offer?

Ideally it would be great if you could commit to two days a week but just let us know how much time you have to spare. We are looking for support as soon as possible until around mid-Oct and possibly longer.

Where will I be based? Will I need my own transport?

You will be based at our Head Office in Guildford: Parklands, Railton Road, Guildford, GU2 9JX.

You will not need your own transport for this volunteer opportunity.

Is there an induction and training?

We will provide a full induction with opportunities to learn about the work of the CTC, the national cycling charity. You will get ongoing support and supervision from Mark Slater, our Project Development and Volunteer Manager. You will also attend training on CMS, events listing and results management systems as well as anything additional which occurs during your time with us.

Will my expenses be paid?

We reimburse expenses within agreed guidelines which should cover your travel and lunch.
