100 MPs attended an extended 4 hour debate
on Monday night, with over 30 speeches in support
of the Get Britain Cycling report's recommendations, set out in a speech by Julian Huppert (right) co-chair of the All Party Cycling Group. Shadow Secretary of State Maria Eagle outlined an 8 point plan for cycling
, including promises of longer term funding for cycling rather than stop-start, two-year spurts of cash. CTC, together with British Cycling and Sustrans, had briefed MPs beforehand, but the fact that so many attended is a tribute to the thousands of cyclists who got in touch with MPs over the last few weeks. Thank you!
