Phill holds the Mountain Leader Award and SPA, as well as various sailing and paddle sport tickets. He is a full team member of Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team covering South Snowdonia and the coast. He runs his own guiding company in Mid Wales and can often be seen leading groups in the Elan Valley.
He was senior instructor at Mount Severn and Staylittle Outdoor Activity Centres providing adventurous activities such as climbing, kayaking, sailing and, of course, biking!
Phil currently works for a local authority as a Professional Development Officer, teaching leadership skills, coaching and mentoring and mandatory training for corporate health and safety.
He studied cartography and was a senior draughtsman/editor at a mapping company for 17 years, so when it comes to navigation on Tech Leader courses he can certainly give you the best of his knowledge.
Biking has taken him all over the world, from 24hr endurance races in the UK to racing the Yak-Attack in Nepal, considered to be one of the toughest mountain bike races on the planet - and certainly the highest at 5416m. He has also photographed the event for MBUK and Berghaus.
Working for CTC has enabled Phill to share his experiences as a rider and a leader, and meeting like-minded riders keen to show others the thrills, spills and benefits mountain biking brings is all the motivation he needs.
