10am from the Musket Club on Lordswood Road in Berechurch - Free!

This group is perfect for families as the ride is just over an hour.

Not too fast, although we always get a few who lead off a little faster before joining up a little further on. We also have bike trailers so you can bring a little one along. All our rides are FREE. We have bikes and equipment for people to use without charge. So come and join us. You’re sure of a friendly welcome.

CTC Wednesday Cycling meets at 11am from Leisure World. Ride with a group of 20 or so who always have time for a coffee and a chat.

Wednesday Women – contact Sandra Meadows who leads these rides and helps the Champions rides occasionally too. Tel: 01206 851571, email [2].  The group aims to cover 20 miles or so at quite a pace, so excellent for fitness, and great if you want to enjoy it without the men about.

And then, the ride that started all the rides.

Sundays with CTC, led by a different person every weekend out for 40 miles or so at a fairly gentle pace, with a stop for elevenses and you are guaranteed to discover some of the most exquisite Essex countryside. Again contact Alan above. The ColchesterCTC  [5] has a great website with details of every ride.

Cycle Chapeau organise fantastic Alleycat Runs including a regular overnighter to the Suffolk coast. Awesome! Contact Richard on 07528 035115 or email [6].

Finally, there are numerous club runs including Colchester Rovers. The bike shops all run their own rides and welcome new people. Usually, a fast pace and there’s quite a bit of getting muddy too at Friday Woods and various other locations.
