Tiptree turns out to celebrate its new pump track

Colchester Mayor Cllr Colin Sykes launches Tiptree's Pump track
After two years of planning, a new pump track at Tiptree in Essex was opened today by the Mayor and Mayoress of Colchester, Councillors Colin and Laura Sykes. Despite the wet weather there was a fantastic turn out from local youngsters eager to try out the track.

The event was supported by BMX Braintree ensuring there were plenty of  bikes for  those who didn't have their own to enjoy a lesson and a pump track session.

The track at the Grove Road playing field wouldn't have been possible for CTC to build without the co-operation of Colchester Borough Council, who have directed funding towards this project and other very successful cycling programmes in the village.

We want to pay tribute to Tiptree Parish Council who had belief in our ideas to inspire young people to cycle and have supported us all the way.

CTC's Cycling Development Officer

Opening the track, the Mayor encouraged local children to enjoy using the facility and shared his memories of the summer when he and his wife Laura had ridden a tandem when the Tour series came to Colchester.
