The full route for the 2014 Tour de France was today unveiled in Paris with Yorkshire flying the flag for the UK with the Grand Départ 2014.

The route takes in some breathtaking scenery around Yorkshire, including the Spa Town of Harrogate where CTC began in 1878.

CTC Development Officer Ginny Leonard is heavily involved in the legacy strategy and delivery team who have been working on the "Get Yorkshire Cycling" legacy for some months. Ginny had this to say: "Although I am very excited about the event being on my doorstep and actually being a part of it, I am more excited about the opportunities arising in terms of the legacy for CTC and for cycling in the wake of the Grand Départ. CTC are recognised as a core organisation shaping cycling in the region and our involvement is allowing more and more people to learn about how CTC can support them, their clubs and their cycling campaigns".

The Grand Départ will put Yorkshire on the map as a destination capable of hosting world class events in a world class location, providing a springboard to greater things. We are excited, we are proud and we are ready to welcome the world.

Ginny and the CTC team in Yorkshire will be engaging more with the Member Groups, offering affiliate advice to other cycling groups, membership offers, running events and rides, as well as working on longer term CTC projects and with other key people and groups.

The first stage of the 2014 Tour de France will depart Leeds on the 5 July. Routes for the first two days can be downloaded below and spare a few moments to watch their film.
