Surrey artist’s new fund-raising cow is great mooos for Cycling UK
Dorking artist Charles Rowbotham is rustling up a new Cycling Moo Kay to raise funds for Cycling UK. Charles started painting a new fibre-glass cow this week after the original Cycling Moo Kay was stolen overnight from its grazing spot on top of Surrey’s Box Hill in August.

Plaque remembers much-missed cycle campaigner Gordon Selway
A plaque was unveiled at Bromsgrove railway station last Friday (28 October) to commemorate the extraordinary life of Gordon Selway – much-loved cycle and rail campaigner, barrister, intellectual, musician, district councillor, multi-charity volunteer and larger-than-life character.

In spring this year Great Western Railways (GWR) announced that all bikes on their high speed trains would require mandatory booking from May. Understandably there was public outcry and confusion. In October, Cycling UK and Ben Bradshaw, MP for Exeter and keen cyclist, met with Great Western Railways (GWR) to discuss current and future cycle rail policy.

Community cycling groups Onna high after sharing award!
The quality of entries for our Best Community Project award was so high that it ended up being shared between two extremely worthy and hard-working groups – Whalley Range on Wheels and Onna Bike. Both are Cycling UK Community Clubs, both have been heavily involved in our Big Bike Revival – and both have been helping people to cycle, with fantastic benefits to their respective communities.

Hit and run - it's only a cyclist!
Does it take the tragic death of a 15-year-old schoolboy for Lancashire Police to finally take hit-and-run collisions with cyclists seriously, or will they continue to say "there's only so much we can do"? Is it because it's only a cyclist, or just that road crime isn't treated as real crime in Preston, and is nowhere on their list of priorities as traffic officer numbers are slashed again?
