MPs discover wheels can lead to wellbeing as Herne Hill hosts disabled cycling day

Politicians were given an insight to the world of disabled cycling as the heavens opened at Herne Hill Velodrome this week. Ruth Cadbury MP, Co-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group, was among those invited to a Tea, Tour, Talk and Track session organised by the inclusive cycling charity Wheels for Wellbeing, which is affiliated to Cycling UK.

Greenford cyclist Frank Cubis dies following Ealing collision

Cycling UK and Kingston Phoenix Road Club member Frank Cubis sadly passed away yesterday after sustaining fatal injuries in a collision with a vehicle while cycling in Ealing in May. A generous man who dedicated his life to cycling, he was riding to Richmond Park to mentor a novice cyclist on the day his lifetime passion ended in tragedy.

They came, they climbed, they conquered – and the elated look on their faces said it all. Nearly 50 Cycling UK members were left with a gorgeous feeling after pedalling up Cheddar Gorge on their way to completing the toughest bike ride of their lives on Saturday (2 July).

Hundreds of cyclists take on the Tri-Vets century ride challenge

The Tri-Vets cycle series, which started on 4 June and concludes this Sunday 10 July, has seen Cycling UK members aged 50+ from all over the country complete a 100-mile or 100-km road ride in under 12 hours. The series takes place every three years and is a sociable and fun activity which dates back to early in the last century.

The Big Bike Revival, an award winning programme developed by Cycling UK, formerly CTC the national cycling charity, helps people to bring their bikes back into use, by providing bike health checks, sharing maintenance knowhow, and giving people more confidence in the saddle.

Two grandads and an alien are on the write road from Hungary!

They cycled more than 1,450 miles, took in the sights and sounds of seven countries, slogged up and down the Alps, and had to cope with temperatures which soared to 38°C – a sizzling 100°F in ‘old money’. As bike rides go, it wasn’t a bad effort for two grandads and an alien!
