About us

Pontefract Cycling Club are a CTC affiliated group.

PCC is primarily a social cycling club where like minded individuals who enjoy being outdoors can ride together. It doesn't matter what type of bike you have you are welcome to join in. There is plenty of banter on offer as well as the usual advice and experience of seasoned riders.

We are not a racing orientated club, we do organise one or two tours a year both in the UK and in Europe. We also attend some traditional CTC events such as the Welsh festival of Cycling, the Tockwith Carol Service and Coxwold Service

Information about the group rides

Sunday club social rides usually start at 9.00am from 1 of 3 places which are Pontefract Buttercross (in the town centre), Brotherton or Rabbit Ings Car Park. This information will be communicated through our facebook page a few days beforehand along with a summary of the ride. Rides range from between 35 and 75 miles but generally average 40-50 miles with an average speed of 11-12mph. We usually have 2 cafe stops, mid morning and lunchtime and maybe a 3rd stop on a longer ride. We do not insist that members ride the whole ride they can dip in and out as they wish e.g. ride with the group to the first stop and return at that point.

We ride 52 weeks a year (weather permitting) with the Winter rides being of a shorter duration.

Note the facebook page is currently a closed group so if you are interested in joining and riding with the club drop a message first and we can send info on the next few rides for a taster. Later we can add you to our Facebook page.
