About The Group

Perth and Kinross Cycle Campaign are a Cycling UK affiliated group.

ByCycle, the Perth and Kinross Cycle Campaign, leads regular rides around Perthshire to encourage cycling and publicise its benefit for the community, individuals and the environment. The voluntary organisation aims to ensure that public policy actively encourages cycling for work and leisure and makes full provision for it as part of overall planning and transport strategy. It achieves this via consultation, active representation to appropriate bodies and by liaising with other organisations with common interests in active travel by non-motorised users.

About our rides

Information about the group rides:

ByCycle organises and leads a series of gentle paced cycle rides, about 10 mph, mainly in Perthshire throughout the year.  As far as possible they follow quiet scenic roads, cycle paths and, occasionally, tracks.  All are welcome to join these FREE rides and no-one gets dropped off.  All that we ask is that you have a reasonably maintained bike and that, after you have enjoyed one or two rides, you join ByCycle (details here) so that you are covered by our Public Liability Insurance.

Wednesday Summer Rides

Each Wednesday evening through the summer months (in 2017, April 26th - August 23rd) ByCycle leads short rides within Perthshire.  These easy rides usually last for an hour and a half and cover 10/15 miles, often finishing with a relaxing drink at a local hostelry.  All are welcome to come; just turn up at your chosen venue with an appropriate bike in reasonable condition.  Don’t forget to bring a spare inner tube in case of a puncture.  See ByCycle Wednesdays 2017 for details and locations.

Third Sunday Rides

Rides are taken at a gentle 10 miles per hour and no-one gets dropped off.  The routes are advertised by email usually on the Wednesday before the ride.  To be included on this email and/or for further details, please contact Mike Simm (Vice chair) on mikesimm259@gmail.com.  All are welcome to join us on these rides but we would ask that you join ByCycle after you have enjoyed one or two so that you are covered by our Public Liability Insurance.  Check here for the routes of some of our rides that we have enjoyed over the past few years or here for some photographs.

Special Ride

Each August our third Sunday ride is a very special one.  We hire coaches and a furniture van to transport riders and their bike to a venue that we cannot reach on our normal circular rides.  Riders then make their way back to Perth on a recommended route.  Dropoff venues that have been used in the past include Kenmore, Kinloch Rannoch and Dalwhinnie.  At the end of ride there is a celebration at Bell’s Sports Centre with tea and cakes and presentation of certificates.  The 2017 Special ride will be from Callander.  See here for further details
