About us

Brighton and Hove Cycling UK is a friendly and active cycling group based in the lively seaside city of Brighton and Hove on the south coast.

We run regular group rides going to a range of destinations. We are close to the sea, the South Downs and the beautiful countryside of East and West Sussex.

Information about the group rides

Summer cycling

Try one of our all-day Sunday rides! Ride details are posted on this page, also on Facebook and Instagram. Please like and follow us!

On a full day ride you can explore further with a lunch stop at a village pub or café, returning in the afternoon. We ride at a comfortable touring pace, not racing. Mileage can be 50 - 65 miles, scaled back in the winter due to less daylight. Contact the ride leader for shorter options whenever a ride looks too long for you. People sometimes come out for just a part of the ride or to meet up with the group for lunch. We're very happy to welcome new riders and potential ride leaders! We have a lively WhatsApp group to keep in touch.

We are keen to see improvement in cycling provision for all in our area (Brighton and Hove and part of West Sussex) and across the country. We have Cycle Advocacy Network (CAN) representatives in our committee and among our members.

This year we are delighted to support the neighbouring town of Hassocks with their first Summer cycling festival (this link can be a bit slow to load).

There will be a Kidical Mass ride on Saturday 12 July, 2-4pm with starting points in Hassocks and Ditchling! All kiddie places are taken now, but any adults able to help with the event, please e-mail [email protected] to contact the team.

Health & Safety: If you plan to come on any of our rides, please make sure your cycle is in a roadworthy condition. Bring a puncture repair kit, spare inner tube (or tubeless kit) and lights as appropriate, essential tools, a mobile phone if you have one, enough to eat and drink, sunscreen/ waterproofs/ warm clothing / gloves etc. as appropriate. Be prepared to give contact phone numbers and let the ride leader know if you have any medical condition that might affect your riding.
