MTB Instructor Trainer

The Instructor Trainer Award is the ultimate in mountain biking teaching. Used purely for tutors of CTC courses, Instructor Trainers undergo a thorough programme to develop the ethos, teaching principles and content knowledge needed to work and integrate into the CTC Training team.
Key Content:

The C TC Instructor Trainer is a high level qualificationCTC invests hugely in our tutors, both initially and on an ongoing basis to ensure Instructor Trainers are:

  • able to fulfil the demanding role required of them
  • able to focus on the teaching and development of Leaders, Instructors and other Trainers through their own good practice, continuous development and internal updates
  • supported with administration back up, teaching resources and excellent facilities with which to work
  • involved in the ongoing developments of products and services through CTC, with regular staff meet-ups and development forums

The Instructor Trainer Award works through a mechanism of training and development during existing courses and attendance at a single weekend Instructor Trainer course. Leader and Instructor courses at each level are observed, assisted on, then provided in a progressive 'on the job' developmental process.

Through the process, we look for three key areas to be fulfilled:

  1. That your ethos to be people and learner focused aligns and supports CTC 's principles and can contribute to CTC's vast collective experience and qualification progression
  2. Your detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant course content is proven
  3. Your use of your own and CTC's teaching resources are effective and successful
Course outcomes:

Instructor Trainers are the face of CTC, the front line, and that means we help to generate the highest level of teaching, contributory ability and an ethos based on the principles of modern educational practice and trainee development.

Following initial training, you will observe and assist at each course level before delivering it. This requires a flexible approach and much depends on your previous experience and the rate at which you feel comfortable as your role increases. Hence, it may take 3 course 'shadows' to complete assessment and start providing at one level, or it may require more.

During your development as an Instructor Trainer you may, for example, become qualified to provide the Trail Leader Award whilst still training on the Technical Leader Award, resulting in you being paid as soon as you can provide at least one course level. Some Instructor Trainers are happy providing at just one level, while others look to work at all levels.
