Sportive/Challenge Ride

Event description

Annual ride to commemorate the birthday of George Herbert Stancer, an early pioneer of cycling, and former secretary of the Cyclists' Touring Club (now Cycling UK). The ride is notionally 50 miles in 5 hours, but an allowance will be made for lunch and socialising with riders on other events. Event entry fee of £5 includes entry to Burnby Hall Gardens in Pocklington, where lunch will be available to purchase. There will also be a stop on the return route for tea/coffee and cake at Thixendale.

The route has been amended this year to use quieter roads. Route sheet and GPX file are attached below.

Although advance entries aren't essential, it would be useful if you would please let the organiser know that you intend to ride this event.
