Baldock Cycle Challenge 2017

Date:
23 July 2017
Type:
Local Group Event (inc DATC and Audax Rides)
Cost:
The cost of entering this event ranges from £14 / £12 (2 loops - non-members/members) to £10 / £8 (1 loop - non-members/members)

The Baldock Cycle Challenge provides an opportunity for you to explore some of the beautiful parishes and countryside that surround the town.  It is not a race.

You can choose to ride Loop A, which has a morning start, or Loop B, which starts in the afternoon.  Or you can choose to ride both!

Here’s an overview of the two loops:

Loop A (South Route, approx. 27 miles). Baldock, Bird Hill, Hickmans Hill, Clothall, Weston, Damask Green, Warrens Green, Halls Green, Luffenhall, Rushden, Roe Green, Sandon, Wallington and back to Baldock.

Loop B (North Route, approx. 31 miles). Baldock, Bygrave, Ashwell, Guilden Morden, Steeple Morden, Litlington, Abington Piggotts and Shingay, Edworth, Hinxworth, Ashwell, Newnham, Caldecote and back to Baldock

There are no mountains but expect a few Hertfordshire hills!

There will be checkpoints on both Loops to make sure the correct route is followed.  These will often be at or near cafés, tea rooms, village halls or pubs so no-one should go hungry or thirsty. Every rider will be given a route sheet at registration, which can be signed at each checkpoint as proof that you've completed the ride.  However stopping at the checkpoints is not mandatory so if you’d prefer you can just keep cycling!

Independent or unattached riders and all newcomers will be very welcome. Entries can only be accepted on the day if there is sufficient space, so please enter by 21st July or you may be disappointed.

The Baldock Cycle Challenge is organised by the Baldock Events Forum, with assistance from the Stevenage & North Herts branch of Cycling UK.
