Components 101: Mudguard

Mudguards make cycling in wet weather a more comfortable experience both for you and the riders behind you. Fixed above the front and rear wheels, they help to reduce the amount of water and dirt thrown up by the wheel actually landing on the rider (and flicking mud into the path of those behind). Many frames have eyelets for the purpose of bolting a set of mudguards to, whereas clip-on guards can be fitted and removed in seconds.
