From a (fairly) young age Olly figured that being paid to ride your bike was the career for him and so spent nearly 10 years guiding mountain bike trips all over the world - everywhere from Italy to Tibet.

Key attributes

  • Incredibly well travelled, having led cycling groups in virtually every country in the northern hemisphere
  • Has worked in the active travel industry since 2000 as a guide, manager and guide trainer
  • Is Business Development Manager at Saddle Skeddadle
  • Has a deep passion for images and flim making of all things cycling and mountainous
  • Has been a Trainer for Cycling UK since 2008

Having spent a few years with more time in Morocco, Italy or Tibet than in the UK, he has gradually weaned off continual travel: with most of the wanderlust out of his system he now works in the management team for one of the UK's best cycling holiday operators and is based in the north-east.

Olly is one of our specialists when it comes to delivering internationally based courses, and the Bike Tour Leader Award.

With a great deal of time spent working with cameras on both stills and moving, Olly's burgoning film making experience is also both valuable and effective.  CTC's Bike Tour Leader video that Olly put together for us is an example, as are the images at his Cloud9Trails site.

He can be found regularly commuting to work on his Grandpa's old bike from the 1950s or looking for new trails on his cyclocross bike.
