Road skills

Bikeability is the Government's cycle training programme based on the National Standards for cycle training.

Working with the Department for Transport and other key organisations, CTC were instrumental in the initiation, design and implementation of the National Standards. CTC has now been accredited by the Department for Transport to deliver National Standard / Bikeability instructor training and related qualifications across the UK.

Level 1 - Riding in an off-road environment, but learning the bike-handling skills required to ride on the road. Lot's of fun!

Level 2 - Out on the road in an area with low level traffic. Level 2 introduces the idea of engaging with other road users, priorities and how to handle junctions.

Level 3 - Aimed at teenagers and adults, level 3 looks at the most complex road situations such as multi-lane roads, roundabouts and traffic lights.

CTC delivers Bikeability in Milton Keynes and Reading. For information about other areas contact your local authority in the first instance.
