police traffic numbers

The penalties for mobile phone use whilst driving have increased, but where's the deterrence without enforcement, what about the wider issues with distracted driving, why did the Government listen on this issue, and what's the lesson for other campaigning? Cycling UK's Senior Road Safety Officer Duncan Dollimore investigates.

Does it take the tragic death of a 15-year-old schoolboy for Lancashire Police to finally take hit-and-run collisions with cyclists seriously, or will they continue to say "there's only so much we can do"? Is it because it's only a cyclist, or just that road crime isn't treated as real crime in Preston, and is nowhere on their list of priorities as traffic officer numbers are slashed again?
