Cycle training is a very effective way to encourage more people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to cycle. It boosts skills and confidence, particularly in imperfect conditions, and teaches the rules of the road.

 
 
CTC is appealing for people to donate children’s bikes after heartless thieves stole 12 cycles used for popular after-school sessions in Reading. The bikes were taken during a break-in at Palmer Park Sports Stadium during the early hours of Tuesday 15 December.

 
 
Nearly a decade ago, an item appeared in the CTC magazine asking for members to run special events to encourage women to cycle. 'Five Miles to Fabulous' was the name of the initiative and two women were inspired enough by it to organise a ride for their female friends.

 
 
Swale CTC made the most of the unseasonably weather this week on its annual ​​Christmas Ride yesterday along the north Kent coast. A record 23 riders, many of whom were dressed in festive outfits, attended. Group member Miriam was inspired by the event to write a poem to celebrate.

The launch of Bike Week, which officially begins this Saturday, is traditionally hosted by the Dutch Embassy in London and coincides with the annual MPs' bike ride to Parliament. Wednesday 10 June was the day, and CTC’s Sam Jones was there to report on events.
