Cycle use down in England in 2013 - 29 Jul 2014 - News
Government transport data from last year show that the bounce in participation in 2012 has subsided, and cycle use has fallen back to 2011 levels, with the fewest number of trips per person at any point over the last 20 years.

 
 
The Commons Transport Select Committee's inquiry report on Cycle Safety has been published, endorsing many of CTC's recommendations.

 
 
Following earlier announcements of capital funding for infrastructure projects, the Government has now announced the allocations of £64m in supporting revenue funding to encourage the use of sustainable transport.

 
 
£2bn announced for new roads or bigger junctions - with almost none on cycling. Meanwhile, the Department for Transport has announced £15m for 2015-16 to be spent on cycle rail improvements, typically additional cycle parking at railway stations.

Space for Cycling Big Ride Success - 19 May 2014 - News
Hundreds of cyclists in cities across the UK showed their support for Space for Cycling by participating in locally held Big Rides.

 
 
On 17 May thousands will be coming out to ride in support of Space for Cycling. With elections just 5 days later, these Big Rides will be a final chance to influence local candidates before the 22nd May elections.

 
 
MPs have acknowledged evidence from CTC of the failures of the National Transport Model in a report by the Transport Select Committee on the strategic road network.
