Girl pedal power

Eve Holt's entry for the photo competition. "My bike takes me to new people, new places and makes me take notice."
Throughout March, CTC and Transport for Greater Manchester are bringing together a festival of events aimed at getting more women in Manchester cycling.

CTC Development Officers Jayne Rodgers and Anna Smith are keen to encourage more women - of all ages and abilities - to get out and pedal so they are looking to pull together a programme of activities that promote, support and enable more women to cycle.

They want to hear about things that are already happening in the Manchester area so they can add them to the mix.

They also want to try and inspire local people, groups and businesses to get something going aimed at getting more women involved in cycling fun, send Jayne Rodgers an email if you would like to take part.

The focal point of the festival is the photo competition, which is already gathering entries. Women Bike MCR want to collect photographs of women cyclists across Manchester showing their achievements and why they ride their bikes. This is an interactive friendly competition open to all women of any age across Greater Manchester and a perfect opportunity to network with the emerging and expanding women's bicycle scene.

A final exhibition, bike party & prize giving to be held after the Critical Mass event on 27 March at Popup Bikes in Manchester.
