The 7stanes Mountain Bike Display Team 2012 Round Up
Despite the unpredictable (but usually, wet) weather, the team still managed to impress the crowds with their talent on their new kit, which now includes a frighteningly high 10 foot box. Whether a children's gala or vintage car rally or agricultural show, the crowds appreciated the technique involved in each display and the occasional examples of bravado when dropping onto a concrete surface from the new box!
The two highlights again this year were the Wickerman Festival (which is always a joy given the free musical accompaniment from the adjacent tents) and the Dumfries stage of the Tour of Britain where everyone got a quick (very quick) glimpse of Bradley and Mark as they whizzed past the display area near the Whitesand's sprint finish.
The core 7stanes team now includes 4 vastly experienced trials riders from across the country including Ross, Ben, Stewart and Ricky all of whom have been riding with the team for over 4 years. In Ross's case, it has been almost 6 years and yet he still doesn't look a day over 15. There were also a number of guest appearances this year, not least young Erin who at 16 years old is the UK's number 2 in 4X racing and decided to add "jumping for the 7stanes team" to her riding cv.
CTC provides ongoing support for the team, who always promote the benefits of membership alongside the attractions of riding some of the best mountain biking trails in the world on the 7stanes. It's a great combination.
The team are looking forward to the new year and are always on the lookout to expand their horizons in both riding and geographical terms. So if you would like to add a new dimension to an event you are running or simply want to watch one the best trials riding teams around, please get in touch with Ruth Asbery.
