Becoming joint Chair of the University Bicycle Users' Group led to an initiative, with other campaigners, to make a statement to Leeds City Council calling for action.. She rapidly assumed the leading role in the follow-up, contacting councillors and meeting with key people within the Council.
Taking over as Chair of the Leeds Cycling Campaign in March 2013, Lizzie has developed it into a well-organised and very professional organisation in cycle campaigning.
Her own firm, polite and well-argued contributions to the issues facing all those in the city and beyond, who simply wished to have safe and convenient routes for cycling, have enabled LCC to keep the needs of cyclists in the minds of the local authority.
This resulted in several high quality cycling facilities in the city. She has proved extremely capable at PR, appearing on both local and national television and radio.
In addition, key events such as the Campaigns Conference have been brought to Leeds at least partly through her efforts.
