KJCC was formed in the spring of 2008 with the simple objective of encouraging children and families to get out on their bikes and discover the fun and freedom that cycling offers. The club is supported by adult volunteers who accompany the children on the rides and assist our longer residential rides by providing catering and route support. The ethos is light touch supervision, keeping the kids safe on public roads, but empowering them too to ride assertively and safely and feel that they can be trusted and respected by other road users.
2010 was a particularly notable year. They took a party of 36 riders and support team to Scotland for a fabulous encounter with the coast and mountain scenery of Arran and Argyll. Later in the year they also squeezed in a weekend residential ride across Exmoor to Minehead. Their summer ‘Lido Series’ was very popular where they timetabled a series of rides to visit outdoor swimming spots over the school summer holidays.
