The Nuneaton Member Group have done wonderful work in putting this relatively small town on the cycling map. It is a long-established Section with a fully complement of rides and many enthusiastic touring members. On this foundation, a refreshed committee has built a convivial and open approach to their local community: they raised some funds from the Local Authority Community Chest and launched Cycling Nuneaton, publicising the joys of cycling to a wider and younger audience. They have produced some very professional publicity material and take part in local community gatherings and events.
Rose and her colleagues have shown great leadership and entrepreneurship and embody the ambition of CTC to appeal to wider groups of cyclists and potential cyclists; they have worked with young people who may never have thought about developing their cycling and also produced their own Five Miles to Fabulous run to encourage more women to cycle. Shorter, family- friendly weekend rides have been added to the regular diet of club runs.
The Group AGM was where the balance between well established traditions and new ideas was achieved in a good humoured and inclusive way with everyone having their say and seeing their opinions respected.
