Treasurer and Chairman. She was District Association president 1994-96. In two years she won the award for the rider with the most attendances and, on many others, has been within the top three.
The club magazine ‘Connecting Link’ currently in its 66th year, would not have continued without her stewardship as treasurer- collecting subscriptions, balancing the books, and organising distribution.
More recently Sheila has had the misfortune to suffer several accidents; each has kept her off the bike for weeks or months. Nevertheless her determination to continue cycling was undiminished and now she is fit enough to ride (and lead) rides of 50-60 miles. She is an inspiration to the whole club.
Reg has been a lifelong cyclist and is still riding 200 miles a week –targeting (and frequently achieving) 10 000 miles a year. He has been an integral part of the club –as a committee member over many years, and chairman for the last 7 years. He also served on the District Association committee for a number of years.
His enthusiasm for cycling led him to join the Cycling Oldtimers and Veteran cycling clubs. More recently he has been a regular rider with the Solihull Cycling Club and CycleSolihull initiating the Saturday Stretcher rides for local cyclists. By organising rides, social events and holidays for many of these activities he has spread the benefits of cycling far and wide leading to the recruitment of new CTC members.
