I want to see within Cycling UK, a rigorous internal management structure that rewards performance so that staff know exactly what their role is in delivering the services required if we are to retain and increase membership, and where they can assess themselves against performance targets clearly set.
I want to see Cycling UK, like many other campaigning organisations, gain substantial financial benefits from an effective Gift Aid programme which we can use for additional services both internally for our members and to assist a heightened profile to extend our reach and influence.
I realise how important is the balance between the work we do as an organisation that assists all cyclists, and the traditional services that our members are entitled to expect, so that we do not lose the support of the very people whose loyalty and volunteering have made Cycling UK something special.
I want to see the Board itself reorganised to achieve concrete results, minimising the time spent on unproductive internal procedures and concentrating instead on outcomes designed to make Cycling UK a recognised leader in cycle campaigning and member services.
We need to maximise Board, staff and volunteer time spent on service delivery and on ways of promoting Cycling UK’s message and profile to the wider audience that we must reach if we are to increase our membership, which therefore increases our influence and enables us to compete with other cycling organisations which superficially appear similar, but offer nothing like the range and scope of activities of Cycling UK.
